The fourth generation Apple iPad (also named as iPad with Retina Display) is unique in many ways, but not much different from its predecessor. It has a faster ABX processor, which gives it greater system speed and better graphics power. But in other respects, it is almost identical to its predecessor: it has the same size and weight, as well as the same Retina display and IPS screen.
The one main difference in the third and fourth generation iPad is the Lightning connector, placed on the bottom of the iPad. The lightning connector is smaller, durable, easier to connect, and faster for files transfer. It also means that any accessories that you may have for iPad1, 2 or 3 will be useless without an adapter.
Perhaps the best feature of this iPad is its retina display, with 2,048×1,536-pixel 9.7-inch IPS screen! The screen brightness and contrast are brilliant, the picture quality is superb, and outdoor visibility is world class. No other tablet comes close (except, of course, its predecessor). Battery life is also longer than the third-generation I-pad (11-12 hours). Its battery life is an hour more than that of the iPad Mini. It is competitively priced, same price as iPad third generation and is definitely lower than what one would have expected for such a good product
Performance wise, the fourth generation iPad is faster, especially in loading apps and games. Serious gamers would enjoy using the fourth generation iPad! Booting time of the fourth generation iPad is also much less than that of third (16 seconds compared to 27 seconds). The fourth generation iPad uses A6 processor which clicks in at 1.4GHz, as opposed to last iPad’s 1GHz A5 processor. The A6X processor also provides quad-core graphics, and this is what makes it different from the processor on the iPhone 5 (just as the A5X processor in the earlier iPad differed from the one in the iPhone 4S).
The cameras on the new iPad have improved, and the pictures are sharper. The front HD camera is 1.2-megapixel, while the rear camera is 5-megapixel. There is a feature called ‘tap to autofocus’ mode, this helps in correcting / adjusting the exposure levels and sharpness of the picture.
