The Pros: A light weight HD camcorder with wifi compatibility thus allowing easy sharing on social networking forums, optical zoom up to 20xs.
The Cons: The Camcorders video is not exactly HD quality due to low resolution sensors used for interpolating recordings to full HD quality. Moreover HD recording cannot be uploaded directly through wifi and HD recording backups are windows compatible only.
Conclusion: Good buy for the price paid considering it to be the basic full HD model with wifi compatibility.
The Samsung HMX-QF20 comes with 2.7inch touch screen with 230,000 dots which does not frustrate the user requiring it to touch the screen again and again for getting a response. The camcorder has a 20x optical and 40x digital zoom Schneider lens which has a limitation of controlling the speed of zooming in and out of the object. Nevertheless the said limitation is reduced through touch screen zoom control. The camcorder is incredibly light weight and compact in size which is definitely a positive feature in itself considering easy portability and single handed shooting but on the other hand the lightweight camcorders when used without a tripod supports are susceptible to greater hand shake effects.
As far as overall navigation and user interface goes the limited buttons on the camera reduces the confusion. There is a red large record button on back of the camera along with zoom buttons with no power button as the power is automatically turned on and off with the flip screen. However on touch screen a home button is provided to switch of the camera manually. The right hand side and the lower banner on the screen displays the controls which is feature generally found in other camcorders. The video recording outdoors is a challenge in itself with excessive screen glare and limited screen brightness. The camera microphone becomes noisier when recording outdoors as compared to when recording indoors. The brightness feature is also not up to the required expectations from a full HD camcorder. The color feature is however fairly good given the other features of the video recording. The still picture feature is what you actually get from a 5 to 6 mega-pixel mobile camera.
