Asus Zenfone 2 – Anriod Phone
Asus is working seriously in the world of smartphones with proposals always rich in technology and the good price / performance ratio. No exception Zenfone 2 550ML we tried and that has impressed for good design, excellent reception capabilities and speed always live up to expectations and with rare jamming.
No surprise in the package, but no time off: micro USB cable (of good quality but a bit ‘short), headphones “in-ear” with three different pairs of ear buds to fit perfectly to the ears of all, USB charging 1.3 amperes ( a bit ‘underpowered for a battery from well 3000 mAh).
First impressions are dictated from the large 5.5-inch display, which you are a good feeling: IPS technology adopted it provides excellent viewing even for very tight corners and helps you get the better the resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. The size of the display obliges obviously in large shapes, but the smart convex profile that characterizes the rear of the device makes it particularly pleasant and for anything strenuous manage smartphone, even with one hand. Grip, helps the finish of the back cover, which returns a feeling “rubbery” pleasant to the touch and with a good grip. The only downside to this finish is easily show fingerprints and signs of wear.
Good idea to place the volume buttons on the back cover: you can easily reach even for those with small hands. Just above the volume buttons are the 13-megapixel rear camera and the led / flash bicolor, sufficiently powerful and able to adapt perfectly to the ambient light. On the bottom of the back cover are the grid behind which the loudspeaker system: the sound is powerful enough, although the quality is not a miracle. The camber of the cover avoids to stifle the sound coming from the speaker, but the quality varies greatly depending on where you put the smartphone. At the time of use we must therefore make some little experiment to find the ideal location.
Removing the back cover gives access to the two slots for the SIM card and one for the expansion of memory via Micro SD, we can increase it by another 64 GB, which is going to add up to 16 internal memory. After removing the cover we can also admire the generous 3000 mAh battery is not removable and capable of giving an excellent autonomy.
On the front of the phone we find the classic earpiece (good quality), light sensors and proximity and the multi-color LED for alerts, in addition to the 5-megapixel front camera. At the bottom, below the display, there are the three classics capacitive buttons, not backlit.
On the top of the smartphone are the second microphone to suppress ambient noise, the headphone jack and the power button: this is awkward to operate, inconvenience partially settled by the possibility of awakening the smartphone from standby with a double tap on the screen. The recognition of the gesture in standby mode is in fact one of the most interesting features and, in addition to the “double tap” for revival, it is possible, using different gesture, start your browser, the camera, the interface for the phone calls and more.
The measures are 152x77x10mm, remembering that thin decisively towards the two sides of the phone. To underline the very good display / body: 72%. Also the weight of 170g, can be seen as a good result, in the light of the excellent battery 3000 mAh present in the device.
The hardware of this phone is well balanced: the display 720×1280 pixels does not stand for pixel density (267 ppi just) but, thanks to IPS technology, always gives very sharp images and brilliant colors. Also, such low resolution does not bind particularly the GPU (PowerVR G6430) and allows you to enjoy excellent frame rates with any game. The processor is an Intel Atom Z3560, quad-core clocked at 1.8 GHz, with a workforce of 2 GB of RAM. The internal memory of 16 GB can be expanded via microSD, with cuts of up to 64 GB.
The battery is one of the strengths of this phone, whether or not removable 3000 mAh provide excellent autonomy. The flip side is found in the USB charger supplied: 1:35 A are very few when compared to the battery capacity and force them to long charging cycles.
The Asus Zenfone 2 can accommodate 2 SIM, like micro, and operates on Quad Band (850/900/1800/1900). The primary SIM can also connect to 4G, while both SIM cards allow 3G connection. The phone has two different radio systems that, although we are engaged in conversation on a SIM, if a call comes in on the other card, we can switchare hot. Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC connectivity complete smartphone. Note on the receipt in Wi-Fi: excellent, even in case of very weak signal.
Complete set of sensors: gyroscope, accelerometer, compass and GPS.
