Gaming notebooks are in a class of their own. Mass? No matter. Dimensions? No matter. Price? Apparently no matter. What counts are the naked performance values with which the current games are to be supplied. The Acer Triton 700 impressively demonstrates that a gaming laptop is not inferior to a desktop computer – if the user reaches deep enough into the pocket. For 3,400 euros, there is the all-round carefree package in 15-inch format.
Acer Triton 700: Hardware
The data read like the shopping list of a professional gamer: The 15.6 inch display with IPS panel receives the images from an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080. As a CPU, an Intel Core i7-7700HQ is used, a 32 -Gigabyte memory. The Triton 700 is available as an option for Thunderbolt 3, USB 3.0, USB 2.0, HDMI, DisplayPort and LAN. A worming drop is the screen resolution, because Acer continues despite the high price on Full HD. If you look at the competition, it could have been QHD (2560×1440) quietly.
Acer Triton 700: Design
The design of the Triton is somewhat different. Acer does not use a classic trackpad for gaming. Instead, there is a large window below the screen, which provides the view of the hardware and the fans. Parts of the glass respond to fingerings, so a trackpad is not entirely missing. However, the use of an external mouse seems compulsory. But: fans of bare boards come to their full satisfaction.
Below the shop window there is also a keyboard. This is mechanically and therefore suitable for intensive game sessions – theoretically. What Acer seems not to have thought about is the uncomfortable posture that forces such a low-level keyboard. Without pain, pain can quickly develop.
Acer Triton 700: Availability, Price
As indicated, the Triton 700 is not cheap: Starting from August, Acer wants to start with the deliveries and estimates for the device 3,400 euros. If you can live with less power, you will find the right equipment from 1.500 Euro. The last bit of performance and certainly also the extravagant design have their price.
